The Well in Elizabeth Bay - A Luxurious Transformation

When we began designing The Well in Elizabeth Bay, we wanted to challenge the traditional idea of what a cosmetic and skin rejuvenation clinic should feel like. Rather than creating a space that felt clinical or overly polished, our vision was to create an intimate sanctuary—somewhere clients could immediately feel at ease, cared for and removed from the outside world.

The design began with the client journey. We considered how someone would enter the space, how they would move through it, and how the architecture could gradually create a greater sense of privacy and calm. From this came the idea of using curves as the defining language of the interior.

Soft, sculptural forms guide clients through the clinic, gently shaping spaces without relying on harsh lines or rigid transitions. Curved walls and recessed niches became a way of creating moments of enclosure and intimacy, particularly around consultation and treatment areas, while allowing the overall space to remain fluid and connected.

We wanted the material palette to reinforce this softness. Warm, tactile finishes and comfortable furnishings were layered with playful accents of pink, bringing a sense of personality and femininity to the space without overwhelming it. Gold lighting was introduced as a warmer counterpoint, creating an ambient glow while adding a subtle sense of glamour.

Throughout the design process, we were conscious of finding the balance between beauty and function. Every curve, niche and transition needed to contribute not only to the visual experience of the clinic, but also to privacy, circulation and the practical requirements of its day-to-day operation.

Ultimately, our approach to The Well was about creating an experience rather than simply an interior. Through softness, movement, colour and light, we transformed the clinic into a place that feels personal and nurturing—a space where the architecture itself becomes part of the ritual of slowing down, being cared for and feeling renewed.
